Most Sample libraries run on both, Mac and Windows. Unless your computer is totally outdated, look at sample libraries first before you spend any money. Minimum computer hardware...

SAVIHost will give you one instrument only. You could try VSTHost of Herman Seib, if you wish to use a large number of instruments and effects.

There are several ways of starting playback, to be found in the manual.

My favorite method is to highlight a note and then use Shift Spacebar.

I am still on Windows XP. On my PC I can connect “Line In” to “Line out” on the integrated audio of my PC. All you need is a pair of audio cables to try it on your machine.

Just another thought. Have you set the Aria player “Tools, Preferences” to your audio device and driver? You need an ASIO sound card and an ASIO driver.

If you have MidiYoke installed on your computer, you will find Midi Yoke under Tools, Preferences, in the free standing Aria player.

Using VSTHost gives you more possibilities and...
